What Makes a Luxury Camping Trip?

When I tell people that Go Wild operates luxury backcountry camping trips, the most common reaction I get is, oh, like glamping!

Well, yes, and no.

To me, glamping refers to the stuff. Canvas tents, patterned rugs, soft lighting, charcuterie boards. Important for a comfortable experience, but not what makes it truly luxurious.

When we say luxury at Go Wild, we don’t mean thread count. What we really mean is caring, empathetic service.

And honestly, I don’t want to go so far as to take the wild out of the wilderness. Pack in too many amenities and you might as well go to a hotel. We’re here to commune with nature, our families, and ourselves undistracted by all the stuff of our daily lives. When was the last time you went without looking at your phone for a day? Without a shower for 3 days? When was the last time you had absolutely nothing to do?

When I hire guides for our trips, I’m less concerned with an extensive resume of outdoor skills and more interested in how they interact with the world. You can teach someone how to build a cooking campfire in a few hours, but to truly care about a stranger- I haven’t cracked that workshop yet.

On our luxury backcountry trips we sleep on thick pads in beautiful tents. We dine on hyper local, delicious meals and sip hand crafted cocktails. But it's the guides at Go Wild that make your experience truly luxurious. We care not just about your safety and comfort, but about who you are and what makes you tick. That’s a harder thing to show in marketing photos, but hey, I’ll try:

Our 2026 season is nearly full! We have one weekend left in July and availability at the end of August through early September for private trips.
