Chief Joseph Days Hike & rodeo

Chief Joseph Days Tour
July 25-30 2017

Chief Joseph Days Rodeo is one of the wildest summer events in Eastern Oregon. The Eagle Cap Wilderness is hands-down the wildest expanse of rugged peaks and glacial lakes around. On this tour we take you to both and more. Expect magnificent views, starry skies, and a taste of the true cowboy American west.

Detailed Itenerary

The Chief Joseph Days Tour departs on Tuesday, the 25th of July from the Geiser Grand Hotel in Baker City. Following a brief stop at our favorite local breakfast spot, the Little Pig Cafe, we travel to the southwestern foot of the Eagle Caps. Here we begin our conquest of 20-25 miles that reveal the true beauty of Eastern Oregon, including: high alpine lakes, towering granite peaks, vast green meadows and an incredible diversity of animal and plant wildlife. We spend 4 days and 3 nights in the backcountry so be prepared to get dirty, drink cowboy coffee, and make friends. All camping gear is provided but bring your own boots. Follow along or lead the way, but our guides know the best spots for swimming, fishing, stargazing, and gettin’ wild!

Friday morning we emerge on the northern end of the wilderness to stumble upon three of the best aspects of Eastern Oregon: the beautiful, quaint town of Joseph, the accompanying Wallowa Lake, and last but not least a good ol’ fashion rodeo. Before the shenanigans begin we'll all clean up, kick back, massage sore feet, and have the day to browse the local vendors and sample delicious grub. The wildest rodeo around gets crackin’ at 7:00 pm, with after-party dancing following. Don't stay out too late, for the festivities continue Saturday. Saturday is another play day, with opportunities to swim, visit a ranch, and enjoy all of what Chief Joseph Days has to offer. We provide everything: meals, transportation, lodging, gear, and guides who know how to have a good time. Following breakfast Sunday morning, we head back to Baker City, arriving ~ 12:00 pm.
